    Pulse shape discrimination performance of Inverted Coaxial Ge detectors

    We report on the characterization of two inverted coaxial Ge detectors in the context of being employed in future 76^{76}Ge neutrinoless double beta (0νββ0\nu\beta\beta) decay experiments. It is an advantage that such detectors can be produced with bigger Ge mass as compared to the planar Broad Energy Ge detectors (BEGe) that are currently used in the GERDA 0νββ0\nu\beta\beta decay experiment. This will result in lower background for the search of 0νββ0\nu\beta\beta decay due to a reduction of cables, electronics and holders. The measured resolution near the 76^{76}Ge Q-value at 2039 keV is 2.5 keV and their pulse-shape characteristics are similar to BEGe-detectors. It is concluded that this type of Ge-detector is suitable for usage in 76^{76}Ge 0νββ0\nu\beta\beta decay experiments

    Development and test results of a readout chip for the GERDA experiment

    This paper describes the F-CSA104 architecture and its measurement results. The F-CSA104 is for γ spectroscopy with Ge detectors. It is a low noise, fully integrated, four channel XFAB 0.6μm CMOS technology ASIC, that has been developed for the GERDA experiment. Each channel contains a charge sensitive preamplifier (CSA) followed by a 11.7MHz differential line driver. It has been particularly designed to operate in liquid argon (T = 87K/-186°C) and to have a measuring sensitivity of 660e- with an ENC of 110e-, after offline filtering with 10μs shaping, when connected to a 30pF load. Special techniques are used to improve the SNR such as a large input PMOS FET, an integrated 500MΩ CSA feedback resistor and a noise degeneration drain resistor

    No CPT Violation from Tilted Brane in Neutral Meson--Antimeson Systems

    Tilted brane in theories with large compact extra dimensions leads to spontaneous symmetry breaking of the Lorentz and rotational invariance in four dimensions, as shown by Dvali and Shifman. In this brief report, we point out that the mentioned Lorentz symmetry breaking, although leading to the CPT--violating interaction terms, cannot lead to the CPT violation in the experimentally interesting KK--Kˉ{\bar K} and analogous systems.Comment: 5 pages, RevTe

    Possible Spontaneous Breaking of Lorentz and CPT Symmetry

    One possible ramification of unified theories of nature such as string theory that may underlie the conventional standard model is the possible spontaneous breakdown of Lorentz and CPT symmetry. In this talk, the formalism for inclusion of such effects into a low-energy effective field theory is presented. An extension of the standard model that includes Lorentz- and CPT-breaking terms is developed.     Test of Special Relativity and Equivalence principle from K Physics

    A violation of Local Lorentz Invariance (VLI) and hence the special theory of relativity or a violation of equivalence principle (VEP) in the Kaon system can, in principle, induce oscillations between K0K^0 and Kˉ0\bar{K}^0. We construct a general formulation in which simultaneous pairwise diagonalization of mass, momemtum, weak or gravitational eigenstates is not assumed. %and the maximum attainable %velocities of the velocity eigenstates are different. We discuss this problem in a general way and point out that, as expected, the VEP and VLI contributions are indistinguishable. We then insist on the fact that VEP or VLI can occur even when CPT is conserved. A possible CP violation of the superweak type induced by VEP or VLI is introduced and discussed. We show that the general VEP mechanism (or the VLI mechanism, but not both simultaneously), with or without conserved CPT, could be clearly tested experimentally through the energy dependence of the KLKSK_L-K_S mass difference and of η+\eta_{+-}, η00\eta_{00}, δ\delta.     Sensitivity of CPT Tests with Neutral Mesons

    The sensitivity of experiments with neutral mesons to possible indirect CPT violation is examined.
